NeoRecormon® (epoetin beta) is a Prescription Medicine used to treat anaemia in people with chronic kidney disease. NeoRecormon is a solution for injection, available in pre-filled syringes containing 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 10,000 international units of epoetin beta.
NeoRecormon should not be used if you have high blood pressure that is not well controlled or severe phenylketonuria. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, if you have had problems with other erythropoietin-type medicines, or if you have any other health problems, especially the following: blood clotting diseases, epilepsy, liver disease, a deficiency in folic acid or vitamin B12, or high levels of aluminium in the blood.
Possible unwanted effects include: Common: headache, chest or throat infection, increase in blood pressure or worsening of already high blood pressure and changes in iron levels (symptoms may include feeling tired, lacking energy or looking pale). Rare: flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, headaches, tiredness, pain in arms and legs) which can happen at the start of treatment, skin rashes or injection site problems, bleeding or bruising more easily. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following: sudden stabbing migraine-like headache, severe chest pain, very painful and swollen calf muscles, seizures, or sudden and severe signs of allergy. These may be serious side effects and you may need urgent medical attention.
